10 Tips and Information for Travelers

There are things you should do before and after you travel to your destination. Jazz Music Travel Agency will take care of many of the things before the trip, but the following is some travel information and tips for our clients.

Contact Jazz Music Travel Agency owner Laurie Scheid if you need more information or have questions.

1. Be on Time

If you are flying within the United States, it is a good idea to arrive at the airport at least two hours in advance of the departure time. For international flights, arrive at the airport at least three hours in advance. Be pared for long lines for both luggage check-ins and security screenings, especially during peak travel times.

2. Get a Ride to the Airport

Have somebody drop you off at the airport to avoid paying parking fees. Remember to consider the time of day in order to beat rush hour traffic.

3. Pack Lightly

Pack lightly and smart to avoid paying more for checked luggage. Roll your clothes to save more space in your bag, and only limit your footwear to two or three shoes at the most.

4. Have Carry-On Luggage

Have carry-on luggage in case your checked luggage gets lost or delayed. Your carry-on luggage should include a clean change of clothes, pajamas, toothbrush, toiletries (under three ounces), any necessary medications, and a swimsuit if you are staying near a beach.

5. Get Familiar with the Area

When you are going to an unfamiliar place, get familiar with the area, including the local culture, customs, etiquette and even the language.

6. Learn Basic Phrases

Study up on some of the basic phrases of the area you are staying in. You do not need to master the language, but the natives will appreciate your attempt.

7. Be Friendly, but Keep Your Guard Up

You should be friendly to the local people, but you should still keep your guard up. You never know in this day and age, so keep your eyes open and watch for travel scams.

8. Carry Emergency Cash

While you might be taking an all-inclusive paid trip, where everything is paid for beforehand, you still might need to have some money for unexpected problems.

9. Be Patient and Respectful

It might take you awhile to get to your destination, especially if there are delays, but you will get to where you are going eventually. Keep your cool when there are delays or when some other problems arise.

10. Remember Your Passport

If you are traveling outside of the United States, remember to bring your passport to the airport or cruise. Make sure your passport is locked safely in your hotel room. When you are way from the hotel, carry a photocopy of the passport.
